Rickenbacker Refinishing part 1

This entry is part 1 of 4 in the series Rickenbacker Refinishing

Yet another refinishing project.

Rickenbacker Before refinishing

So my friend Marc at Bassline-shift has a 1990’s Rickenbacker bass with a terrible divot (for a lack of a better word) on the neck. There was a section on the neck where there was no poly finish. It affected the playability.  This is how it came from the factory! Really? Where was QC? At lunch?

This bass just had to be refinished ala my Telecaster with a Tung oil finish. This time I added more boiled linseed oil to the mix. I think I mentioned before that the finish was thick and almost difficult to work with.

Next up is dismantled and sanded.
